Dental teeth veneers are individually made porcelain tooth covers that are laid on top of the tooth surface.

They cover the spoilt enamel of the tooth underneath. They also help with getting the uneven tooth aligned and they help with covering up any spaces and chips within the teeth.

Dental veneers are also a good replacement for teeth that have lost their original colour or those which have become mishapen. Teeth veneers can also be used to get rid of the yellow tints on the surface of our teeth.

More and more dental teeth veneers are being used in cosmetic dentistry. They are the saviour for worn enamel and cracks in the teeth. This can happen due to wear and tear and even uneven spacing of the teeth.

The Different Types of Veneers

Dental veneers can be ceramic or porcelain, or they can be resin composite veneers.

Ceramic veneers are the strongest and most expensive. They also last the longest. Proper dental care can mean that your veneers have a long life.

Ceramic Veneers

Ceramic veneers are specially made for your teeth, at a dental laboratory. Getting the positing of the veneers can mean a few visits to the local dental practice. Ceramic veneers are usually thin shells and are made up of dental ceramics.

How They’re Made

During the first visit to the dentist the enamel on the front and the sides of the teeth are removed. This helps in making sure that the veneers don’t have a strange fit later on.

The dentist will also create an impression of the newly shaped teeth so that the prepared teeth are able to be duplicated at the dental clinic.

This duplicate is sent to the lab to have the ceramic veneers made. This can take some time.

When the veneers are done, the patient must go back to the dentist. Then the dentist will put the ceramic veneers on the teeth of the patient. This is check whether they fit on without any problems.

When they are checked, the dentist will bond the teeth and veneers together, using dental cements.

If the patient ever needs further changes, they can get it done during further visits to the dentist.

Resin Veneers

The type of veneers are placed on the teeth during only one visit to the dental clinic.

At the beggining the dentist will prepare the teeth by removing the enamel on the front and sides of the teeth.

Next, the dentist will put the resin onto the teeth after matching the colour that is the best fit for the patient’s natural teeth. Then the resin is hardened by using a specific dental light.

Then the resin composite is polished up and adjusted to fit the teeth of the patient.
